NextGear Capital has appointed Simon Baldwin to its leadership team as operations director.
Baldwin joins NextGear Capital from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he held the role of executive manager within the risk management department. Prior to that, Baldwin held a number of leadership roles with Capital One in the UK, most recently as head of recoveries.
Liam Quegan, managing director of NextGear Capital, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Simon to the team. The breadth and depth of his experience in the financial services industry makes him well equipped to lead our operations team as we strive to continually improve our customer experience.”
Baldwin added: “I’m excited to have joined a forward-thinking and ambitious business that really puts the customer at the heart of everything it does.
“NextGear Capital has a great product and continues to listen to customer feedback, innovate and grow. I’m looking forward to using all the experience I have gained over the last 15 years in retail banking to drive the business’ future strategy and growth as part of the leadership team, and ensure we continue to provide great customer service.”
NextGear Capital recently passed its five year anniversary as a business, now supporting more than 1,600 dealers in the UK and Ireland. The business launched its custom-built app in 2015, offering dealers the opportunity to view and fund pending vehicles from their mobile.
“Over the last five years we’ve hit some really notable milestones, including £2 billion of vehicle funding,” said Quegan. “But I know I speak for the whole team when I say that the thing we’re most proud of is the great feedback from our customers.
“We’ve really set ourselves apart by offering our clients a smart way to buy stock from a wide variety of sources, and giving them the tools to manage their account online, 24/7.”
