Recruitment: On the move
Andy Bell, director of First Vehicle Leasing, has been named as
director of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers’
vehicle finance division.
Charles Peugeot has been tapped to
head up Citroën UK’s new CV sales division. He will lead a
nine-strong team which includes the current CV operations team,
along with six field-based business centre managers. Peugeot
previously worked for PSA Peugeot-Citroën in Spain, in engineering
and commercial roles.
Kevin Gaskell has joined
Motoring.co.uk as the site’s first chairman. Gaskell, previously
the CEO of EurotaxGlass’s and head of Porsche, BMW and Lamborghini,
has over 22 years’ experience in the motor industry. He will work
closely with Richard Mason, managing director of the Moneyextra.com
group, which owns the Motoring.co.uk domain.
“I believe the online motoring
comparison industry has scope for major growth and I’m extremely
excited to be able to use my knowledge of the automotive sector to
take Motoring.co.uk to the next level”, said Gaskell.
The Retail Automotive Alliance
(RAA) has announced that Ashley Winter is to be its new CEO. Winter
was formerly the MD of Patterson Motor Group Ltd, which was sold to
Arnold Clark last year, and is a former chairman of the Ford
National Dealer Council. He replaces Paul Knight, the former
finance director of Ford of Britain, who has retired after four
years at the helm of the RAA.
Nick Plevey and Nigel Harvey have
created a joint venture with Motor Holding Investments to acquire
the assets of Skurrays’ Vauxhall dealerships in Marlborough and
Swindon. Plevey was formerly managing director of Bristol Street
Motors, while Harvey was financial director for the retail group.
Former BSM used car director Colin Pulman has also joined the new
venture as brand director for Saab and Chevrolet.
MAZDA MOTORS UK/EUROPE
Mark Cameron has been promoted to sales and
marketing director at Mazda Motors UK. This reflects the recent
re-structure of the sales and marketing functions at the company
with both departments now reporting to Philip Waring, chief
operating officer. Cameron took on the role of sales director on
October 2008 from the post of marketing director, a position he had
held since July 2005. Prior to that he had spent five months
responsible for Mazda’s product strategy in the UK as brand
manager, following a move from Ford
Jeff Guyton is Mazda Motor Europe’s new president
and CEO, the manufacturer said. Previously Guyton was VP and chief
financial officer at the company, replacing James Muir (see SEAT,
opposite). Guyton joined Mazda in 2000 after a number of years with
Ford Motor Company, as general manager of the cost planning
department in Mazda’s Japanese HQ.
Mitsubishi UK managing director
Jim Tyrrell is leaving his role to take on a part-time position as
vice-president. Lance Bradley, formerly sales and marketing
director, will become managing director in his place. Bradley has
been at the Colt Car Company for nine years, initially as general
manager of sales, then sales director and most recently as sales
and marketing director.
SEAT UK has appointed Nick Andrews as its new head of fleet and
business sales. Andrews joins from Audi UK where he was national
fleet sales manager. James Muir, meanwhile, is to become chairman
of the SEAT S.A. board as of 1 September 2009, succeeding Erich
Schmitt, who has held the post since 2006.

Debt security broker-dealer Cohen
& Company Securities of New York has announced the appointment
of John McWilliams as MD and head of asset finance and speciality
finance. McWilliams is the former CEO of Park Motor Finance, and
was also on the lender’s board of directors.
MOTOR INSURERS’ BUREAU
Tony Sherman has joined the Motor Insurers’ Bureau
(MIB) as financial director. Immediately prior to joining MIB,
Sherman was heading the finance team of Lloyd’s insurance broker,
BEN has appointed Emily Bird as
press and communications executive. Previously she held a media
liaison role with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Managing director of Manheim
Retail Services, John Simpson, has joined the board of parent
company Manheim Group, where he will contribute to the group’s
overall strategic management while retaining executive
responsibility for the retail business, said John Bailey, chief
executive of Manheim.
Data provider CAP has announced a
slew of people moves. Steven Worrell, previously a telesales
executive, has been promoted to key account manager OEMs at CAP. At
the same time John Watts, currently operations development manager
has been promoted to project delivery manager.
In CAP’s retail sector, Heidi Clark, previously a team leader, has
been promoted to the role of key account manager, while Sandy Boyd
has been made a key account manager for the finance sector.
CAP has also appointed Tim Bearder
to the post of current valuation manager, cars. Mark Bulmer has
been promoted to Black Book valuation relationship manager.
Experian has announced the appointment of Simon Waller as its head
of collections, UK and Ireland. He comes with some 20 years’
experience in senior management, having developed debt management
products and consulting services for Fair Isaac and First Data
Assurant Solutions, the niche
insurance protection company, has promoted Drazen Jaksic to
managing director UK and Ireland. Jaksic joined the company in 2007
as sales and marketing director, having previously spent three
years at Prudential as head of relationship management and account
Europcar has promoted Mark
Cotterill to managing director Europcar Group UK. He succeeds John
Leigh who was named chairman of Europcar UK, the holding company
for Europcar’s subsidiaries in the UK. Cotterill has been with the
company since 2003, most recently as general manager of Europcar
Bennedetta Peto has become human
resources director, David Vant, debt purchase manager and James
Welling, collections manager at Cabot Financial.
Local authority fleet service
company Translinc has appointed Paul Wood as fleet services
director. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s
customer base and ensuring its fleet of 3,000 vehicles, ranging
from cars and LCVs to refuse collection vehicles, is managed and
maintained efficiently. Previously, Wood was managing director for
Vehicle Lease and Service.
Nick Heywood-Wakeman has joined THE NOSTRUM GROUP
CFC Solutions as business development co-ordinator. Previously he
worked in a variety of sales roles at businesses ranging from
prestige car replacement to the ophthalmic surgery

The Nostrum Group has announced
that Barry Meeks has joined as a non-executive director. Meeks has
been involved in the financial services sector for over 30 years,
holding MD and chief executive positions at subsidiaries of Skipton
David Watkins is the new sales and
business development manager at Ontime Automotive, having
previously worked for Autologic and Supra UK.
Chris Sutton has been named new head of the motor
finance at Lloyds Banking Group (LBG).
The integration of Lloyds TSB’s
Black Horse business, of which Sutton is MD, and Bank of Scotland’s
Dealer Finance unit under the LBG umbrella will create the UK’s
largest point-of-sale motor lender.
The Black Horse and Bank of
Scotland Dealer Finance brands will continue to exist for the
moment, “and a decision on changing this is being looked at part of
the integration process,” said a spokesman.
Sutton commented: “By bringing
together the UK’s two leading PoS finance businesses we can
capitalise on the strengths of both to provide dealers and
manufacturers with the support they need during difficult
