The UK sales team at Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions has been
bolstered by a trio of new appointments. Derek
Thornton is the new manager of strategic accounts,
Brendan Moran is in charge of corporate sales, and
Peter Leyden is responsible for SME sales. The
three have a collective 59 years’ experience in the fleet industry.
Moran has already recruited new staff for the corporate division
while Thornton is searching for a new strategic business
development manager for large fleets, Hitachi Capital said. Philip
Peace, director of sales, said: “Our new sales structure reflects
recent developments in the marketplace and focuses on offering
customers the level and type of service that matches their
Paul Lomas has been appointed as the new UK
operations director at GE Capital Solutions, Fleet Services. With
more than 20 years under his belt at GE’s fleet arm, Lomas has been
involved in business acquisition, vehicle sourcing and remarketing
initiatives for a decade, and was latterly general manger at GE
Fleet Services Sweden.

Paul Harrison, previously policy adviser at the
Finance & Leasing Association has been promoted to Head of
Motor Finance. During his term as policy adviser he was
instrumental in setting up the Specialist Automotive Finance
Christophe Desplace, brand director at
LeasePlan subsidiary Network, has left the company in order to
spend more time with his family, LeasePlan said. He has been
replaced by Jo Elms, the former brand director at another LeasePlan
subsidiary, FleetLine. Elms joined the lessor in 2005 and has been
director of FleetLine since June 2006. Prior to that, she worked at
Ford and Nissan as a national sales manager.
Driver safety specialist GreenRoad Technologies has added
Tom Stephenson, currently the director of group
revenue management at Avis, to its board of directors. Previously,
Stephenson was a director at GE Capital Fleet Services, and has 20
years of management experience.
Robert Bradbury has been promoted to the
position of regional director at Caffyns, with responsibility for
the retailer’s Volkswagen dealerships.
Peter Johnson has stepped down from his
position as the non-executive chairman of the Inchcape board, at
the end of his three-year term.
Bill Holmes has been appointed a non-executive
director of Lookers, and will chair the retailer’s remuneration
committee. Holmes is currently the managing partner of the Leeds
office of BDO Stoy Hayward.
Lisa Hall has been named the new used car sales
manager at Vertu Motors’ Bristol Street Ford outlet in West
Bromwich. She joins from Evans Halshaw, and was formerly a used car
sales manager for Reg Vardy.
Tony Dimartino is the new general manager at
Bristol Street Peugeot in Northampton, joining from Camden Motor
Company, where he was also a general manager.
Cardif Pinnacle has said that Bob Silverman is
its new chief operating officer, taking responsibility for its IT,
admin and project management functions. Silverman previously held
positions at Applegate, Manpower and Lloyd’s of London, and is a
former director of the Management Solutions group at Deloitte &
Cattles has announced a series of senior management
appointments. Robert East joins as banking
director to head up a new team responsible for securing a Banking
Licence and running the banking division thereafter. His previous
role was Integration and Risk director as ABSA Group based in
Johannesburg. Gary Edwards moves to Cattles from
Lloyds TSB as group IT and Business Services director. He comes
with 25 years experience in the financial services industry with
Barclays and Lloyds TSB as well as Royal Life, Guardian Royal
Exchange and Connecticut Mutual Life in the US.

at Welcome Financial Services, is promoted to the Cattles Executive
Committee to implement a group-wide approach to human resources
Data company CAP has announced that Amanda
Morgan is CAP’s new national sector manager for contract
hire and leasing. She previously held positions at Bramall
Contracts, the former Merseyside dealer group Blakes, and DCS
Automotive. Morgan joins from Albany Business Consulting.
Meanwhile, Mark Bassford has been named as
national sector manager for retail and consumer media. Joining from
Experian, where he spent over 11 years, Bassford will help to
develop CAP’s online consumer offering, among other

previously the company’s business development director, has been
promoted to the post of sales and marketing director, Integrated
Marketing division. Smith will report to Duncan Painter, managing
director of the division.
A former senior director of Bank of Scotland Dealer Finance,
David Foster has joined SsangYong importer and
distributor Koelliker as dealer development manager. Foster was
with Capital Bank, latterly Bank of Scotland Dealer Finance, for
ten years. The distributor aims to have between 60 and 70 fully
operational dealers by the end of the year. Foster will report to
Ian Nicholson, the finance and operations director.
Andrew Collis has joined Hyundai UK as the
company’s new marketing director with a brief to expand the Korean
manufacturer’s operations within the UK market. He comes to Hyundai
from Citroen where he was head of Product and Brand Strategy. Prior
to that he held various positions at Vauxhall Motors over a 16-year
period, including brand manager and group product manager
LIBERTY ELECTRIC CARS
Ian Hobday has joined Liberty Electric Cars as
sales and marketing director. Liberty is in the process of
developing an electrical power storage and delivery system which
can be fitted to cars. The company, headed by former Deutsche Bank
managing director Barry Shrier, is developing its first
electric-powered Range Rover, and plans in the future to roll out
its offering to commercial fleets, as well as the wider motoring
Katie Haddock has joined icenet, the lending
software company, as a consultant based at its Harrogate office.
She joins from GE Money UK where she worked for five years as a
business analyst with responsibilities ranging from project
initiation to solutions handover.
