The full schedule of the festival has already been released on the official website. As ever, there’s tonnes to see. In fact, there are a grand total of 113 showings at the festival. In addition, there are no less than 16 talks from film-makers and actors. There’s plenty to see and do!

Can I buy tickets? –

Well, god loves a trier! By which we mean, you can try but don’t hold your breath. Most of the tickets for various events have sold out. However, you do have options. A few screenings do still have online tickets available, you can buy those through the official schedule (link in the bullet point above.) In addition, for films that haven’t sold out yet, you might be able to get on-the-day tickets.

However, if you did not prepare in advance you could still get chance to get your hands on tickets for the most popular films and events. Unfortunately, you will have to queue if you want these tickets. For a start, standby tickets might be available if people who’ve already bought tickets couldn’t make it in the end. Standby lines will form an hour prior to screening at the venue that particular film is on at. The tickets are strictly limited to one per person and are sold first-come-first-serve.

In addition, there are rush tickets. For selected screenings, the festival have held back some tickets. These tickets will be available at the corresponding venue’s box office starting one hour prior to showtime. However, the appeal of rush tickets is that they are sold at a discount. Again, they’ll be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis so you should arrive early. You can see which screenings rush tickets are available for on the NYFF website. Organisers promise to update the website daily.

As you might expect at any good film festival worth it’s salt, there’s going to be plenty of actors and filmmakers in attendance. You might only be able to catch a glimpse of most, but a selected few are going to be on stage to give extensive interviews. Here’s when you can catch them:

Kate Winslet: The veteran actor will be around for an hour for an intimate talk about her life’s work and her new film, Wonder Wheel. There’ll also be a private dinner reception. Unfortunately, as a fundraising event, tickets for this whole affair cost $1,250. Still, if you can afford it, it’s sure to be magical.

Ava DuVernay and a soon-to-be-confirmed celebrity guest: Multi-talented visionary director Ava DuVernay will be joined by a specially chosen guest for a wide-ranging discussion about the state of the art.

Vittorio Storaro and Ed Lachman: These two incredible cinematographers who’ve worked with some of the greatest directors who ever lived will be sitting down to chat about their upcoming films and their lengthy and storied careers.
