Morgan Stanley has partnered with Italy-based Kairos Investment Management to launch a new Alternative Ucits long/short fund under its FundLogic Alternatives platform.
Known as MS Kairos Enhanced Europe Selection Ucits Fund, the new fund will invest across a diverse range of European companies on an absolute return basis.
The Dublin-domiciled fund, which focuses on pan-European equities, will use research capabilities and dynamic risk mitigation approach developed by asset manager Kairos.
It will invest across Europe with a holistic and diversified opportunity-based investment philosophy. The new fund is a leveraged version of Kairos International Selection Fund, which was launched in 2010.
Morgan Stanley’s FundLogic platform has more than $2.7 billion in assets under management and allows investor’s access to hedge fund strategies in a liquid and regulated framework.
Stephane Berthet, head of the FundLogic Alternatives Platform at Morgan Stanley, said: "Focusing on pan-European equities, this long/short equity strategy is a powerful combination of fundamental bottom-up research and dynamic management of the portfolio’s risk exposure. We believe it will strengthen our existing offering by expanding our coverage of the European region."
Stefano Prosperi, chief executive officer of Kairos Investment Management, said: "The new Fund will enhance the risk return objective of our Kairos Selection Fund, providing a complementary offering to the unlevered strategy and thus allowing us to cater to the full spectrum of investor requirements.
