The value marked a decrease of 401.8% over the previous quarter and a rise of 404.9% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $16.45bn.
The US held an 84.05% share of the global financial services industry M&A deal value that totalled $98.83bn in Q1 2019.
In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 237 deals during Q1 2019, marking an increase of 7% over the previous quarter and a rise of 16.2% over the last four-quarter average.

The top five financial services industry M&A deals accounted for 98.01% of the overall value during Q1 2019.
The combined value of the top five financial services industry M&A deals stood at $81.41bn, against the overall value of $83.07bn recorded for the quarter. The top announced financial services industry M&A deal tracked by GlobalData in Q1 2019 was $43bn merger of Fidelity National Information Services and Worldpay.
In second place was the $28.24bn merger of BB&T and SunTrust Banks and in third place was Brookfield Asset Management’s $4.7bn stake acquisition of Oaktree Capital Management.
The $4.27bn merger of Chemical Financial and TCF Financial and Protective Life & Annuity Insurance and Protective Life Insurance’s asset transaction with Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance for $1.2bn held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
