LSG Round Table

The Dome Room, London   21-Nov-2013

The Future of Current Accounts:
How can current account providers remain competitive and readdress the revenue model and product offering for a sustainable future?

There are now 31 current account providers in the UK offering 122 different types of current account product. The market is changing and is about to become even more competitive with new providers on the scene and existing players set to launch their first current account products. Meanwhile, the opportunity for consumers to switch current accounts has now been made all the more possible.

Timetric’s flagship banking publication Retail Banker International has joined forces with Lifestyle Services Group, the specialist provider of bespoke services to the retail banking sector, to host an invitation-only business roundtable to place the spotlight on how banking providers can invigorate their current account proposition.

The discussion will focus on UK current accounts and discuss the opportunities and challenges faced by banks as they strive to drive loyalty, increase cross-sell metrics and ultimately, improve the bottom line.

The regulator has spoken of boosting today’s sub-10% level of switching by 5%. Together with the emergence of ‘challenger’ brands, the industry looks set to be shaken up in the coming 12 to 24 months.

Topics for discussion will include:
• The need for banks to recognise that clients are more engaged than ever in managing their finances and are becoming more sophisticated in their needs;
• How can banks retain the confidence and trust of their customers and become the point of reference for their financial needs;
• How can banks maximise their fee income from current accounts?
• How are increasing regulatory challenges going to impact upon the sale of AVA’s?
• Customer service differentiation: how can providers ensure that their most profitable customers are offered a differentiated service that evokes a sense of exclusivity?
