US-based Fifth Third Bank has introduced card-free ATMs where the customers can avail and carry out all functions with the bank’s mobile application.
The introduction of card-free ATMs is expected to improve security as well as enhance customer experience.
Under the new service, the customer can sign into Fifth Third’s mobile banking app and select the account from which they want to withdraw money. Then they need to tap the new Cardless ATM icon and touch the ATM screen to scan the code.
The customers can begin banking after providing their PIN.
Fifth Third chief digital officer and innovation, design and omnichannel experiences head Melissa Stevens said: “Fifth Third is bringing new innovations to customers on a regular basis, and I’m excited that this new feature connects two channels our customers use frequently – our mobile app and Fifth Third ATMs.”
Currently, the bank operates nearly 2,500 ATMs across ten US states, all of which will offer card-free access to the customers.
However, the service will not be available in partner ATMs.
Headquartered in Ohio, Fifth Third Bancorp operates 1,154 full-service banking centres across Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia and North Carolina.
It has four main businesses which include commercial banking, branch banking, consumer lending and wealth & asset management.
