Dutch challenger bank Knab has tapped face verification firm iProov to roll out its biometric authentication technology to the bank’s 500,000 customers.
Through the partnership, Knab aims to use iProov’s technology to meet Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements. In addition, this will be the first time any bank in Europe has used iProov for SCA.
Andrew Bud, founder and CEO of iProov, said: “Digital banks owe their success to their customer experience. A fast and easy onboarding process, with effortless strong customer authentication, makes all the difference in attracting and retaining customers in an increasingly competitive environment. Knab leads thanks to superb commitment to its customers, and iProov is very proud to be part of their best-in-class banking experience.”
The partnership with Knab marks iProov’s first ever collaboration with a challenger bank.
Using iProov’s technology
iProov’s cloud-based technology is fully automatic and does not use human agents. A key use of the technology will be for Knab’s re-binding process. For instance, when a user deletes the bank’s app, updates the app or loses their device and needs to re-verify their identity.
Knab also has plans to enable customers to process transfers and payments using iProov in the next coming months.
Furthermore, ongoing ID verification for all new customers opening an account with Knab will be carried out using iProov’s technology.
Marcel Kalse, co-founder of Knab, said: “Our customers really are everything to Knab. That’s why we chose iProov – like us, they are clear leaders in delivering the very best customer experience without compromising on the highest standards of security and compliance.”
Following security and customer testing, and assessment for national and EBA compliance, Knab selected iProov to deliver a high-quality experience to its customers.
Adding to this, iProov has processed over three million onboardings since 2019.
