Sagicor Bank Jamaica has rolled out a new online banking platform, developed in collaboration with Swiss technology provider Temenos.
Dubbed NETteller, the new banking platform has been designed to facilitate international money transfers and cross-banking, jamaica-gleaner.com reported.
The platform will enable account holders to obtain foreign exchange online and transfer funds to accounts overseas, apart from facilitating regular banking functions.
It will also allow person-to-person transfers online, and transfers to the other five commercial banking networks in Jamaica.
Sagicor Bank deputy CEO Phillip Armstrong said that the new system will be more user-friendly, and will ensure security by alerting users after funds have been transferred from their accounts.
The platform will also enable the bank to deploy and integrate new modules eventually, Armstrong added.
The implementation of the new platform finalises the integration of online systems of Sagicor Bank and RBC Royal Bank Jamaica, which were merged last June following Sagicor’s acquisition of RBC for $9bn. Sagicor has invested $8m to develop the new platform.
