JSCB TBC Bank, a subsidiary of TBC Bank Group, has launched its banking operations in Uzbekistan under a pilot programme specifically for ‘friends and family’.
TBC plans to extend its banking services to more people from August this year.
The bank will operate on TBC’s online banking platform named ‘Space’ as part of its digitalisation strategy.
Moreover, the bank said it has already opened the first pilot branch which will be used for client relationship purposes.
Later this year, the branches will also serve retail customers by offering them a suite of banking products and services.
These include current and savings accounts, cash and salary-backed loans, payment cards, mobile banking, money transfers and transactional capabilities and point-of-sale (POS) consumer finance.
TBC Bank Group CEO Vakhtang Butskhrikidze said: “The launch of banking operations in Uzbekistan is a very significant step in TBC PLC’s international expansion and is an integral part of our digitally-led growth strategy.”
TBC Bank Uzbekistan CEO Sandro Rtveladze said: “Since obtaining a banking licence in April 2020, we have completed all the remaining operational and regulatory milestones, and we are now ready to move into a closed Beta testing process, allowing us to serve external customers in a ‘by invitation only’ mode.
“We plan to offer our services to the wider public sometime in August.”
