Cognizant has reached an agreement to acquire US-headquartered 3Cloud, a company specialising in Microsoft Azure services and AI enablement. 

The companies did not disclose the deal’s financial terms.

The acquisition, scheduled to close in the first quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approval, will see Cognizant increase its Azure engineering capacity and expand its presence in cloud-based enterprise transformation projects.

3Cloud, which was founded by former Microsoft executives, is Gryphon Investors portfolio company. It delivers services to enterprise clients across sectors such as financial services, healthcare, technology, and consumer industries.

The company is also an Elite Databricks partner with established capabilities in data management, cloud-native AI application development, advanced analytics, and managed services.

The deal adds more than 1,000 Azure specialists from 3Cloud to Cognizant’s workforce and integrates more than 1,500 additional Microsoft certifications.

Approximately 1,200 3Cloud employees, including about 700 based in the US, will join Cognizant’s global pool of nearly 20,000 Azure-certified professionals.

3Cloud has posted a compound annual growth rate of 20% since 2020 and expects similar growth into 2025, citing demand for Azure-based solutions.

According to Microsoft’s recent financials, Azure and related cloud service revenues rose 40% year-on-year in Q3 2025.

In March 2025, Cognizant announced a strategic partnership with AI chipmaker Nvidia to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies across multiple industries.

The collaboration will harness Nvidia’s advanced AI capabilities to drive innovation in five key areas.
