Management Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the technology industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 19% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 28% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 13% share in Q2 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in technology industry accounted for 30% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Jabil, Hitachi, TE Connectivity, TD SYNNEX, and Parsons. Together they accounted for a combined share of 30% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the technology industry.
Jabil posted 2,647 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Hitachi 1,558 jobs, TE Connectivity 1,057 jobs, TD SYNNEX 1,023 jobs, and Parsons 1,012 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 52.53% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the technology industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 52.53% followed by India (6.41%) and Mexico (3.74%). The share represented by the US was three percentage points higher than the 49.09% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
