A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11860885B2) discloses an innovative associative memory array design. The array consists of associative memory cells organized in rows and columns, with logical operations executed in parallel within the columns. Each cell in a row and column reads the content of a neighboring cell in the same row but in an adjacent column. A multiplexer unit is employed to choose, for each intermediate column, either the adjacent column to the left or right to read content from the selected cell.

Furthermore, the patented associative memory array includes a logic unit for each column to perform Boolean operations between the content read from the first column and the content read from the adjacent column. The result of this Boolean operation is then stored in a cell within the first column. This design allows for efficient and parallel processing of data within the associative memory array, enhancing its performance and capabilities in various applications.
