Cassava Technologies has forged a partnership with Accenture to expand sovereign AI cloud solutions across Africa.
This collaboration will leverage Accenture’s AI Refinery platform and Cassava’s GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS), backed by Nvidia AI infrastructure. It will deliver sovereign AI solutions housed in Cassava’s secure data centres.

According to Accenture, the initiative will allow Cassava’s clients to process AI workloads and data domestically, adhering to local regulations.
The rollout will start in South Africa, with plans to extend to Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, and Nigeria.
This approach aligns with Cassava’s data centre expansion strategy across the continent, utilising its extensive pan-African fibre broadband network to support AI computing.

The partnership aims to incorporate regional context, languages, and cultural nuances into AI solutions, focusing on sectors like financial services, mining, telecommunications, agriculture, and healthcare.
This targeted approach is intended to enhance compliance and trust, while facilitating sustainable innovation for African enterprises.
Cassava is said to be investing in infrastructure and platform development to ensure scalability, security, and compliance.

Separately, Accenture is planning to establish a new campus in Andhra Pradesh, India, which could create around 12,000 jobs, reported Reuters.
This proposal follows similar initiatives by other firms, motivated by a state policy offering leased land at a low cost for employment-generating projects.
