Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive autonomous vehicles-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 27%, emerged as the top autonomous vehicles-related job roles within the technology industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings rising by 1% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 19% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 16% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent autonomous vehicles roles include Management Occupations with a 13% share in Q4 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 5% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in technology industry accounted for 70% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were ASM International, NVIDIA, Analog Devices, Crown Castle, and Wistron NeWeb. Together they accounted for a combined share of 70% of all autonomous vehicles-related new jobs in the technology industry.

ASM International posted 920 autonomous vehicles-related new jobs in Q4 2023, NVIDIA 831 jobs, Analog Devices 685 jobs, Crown Castle 297 jobs, and Wistron NeWeb 169 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 55.76% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of autonomous vehicles-related new job postings in the technology industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 55.76% followed by China (7.67%) and India (6.85%). The share represented by the US was three percentage points lower than the 58.57% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
