Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive autonomous vehicles-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 22%, emerged as the top autonomous vehicles-related job roles within the technology industry in Q1 2024, with new job postings drop by 12% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 19% in Q1 2024, with new job postings dropping by 4% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent autonomous vehicles roles include Management Occupations with a 13% share in Q1 2024, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in technology industry accounted for 72% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2024 were ASM International, Analog Devices, NVIDIA, Intel, and Crown Castle. Together they accounted for a combined share of 72% of all autonomous vehicles-related new jobs in the technology industry.

ASM International posted 3,160 autonomous vehicles-related new jobs in Q1 2024, Analog Devices 645 jobs, NVIDIA 417 jobs, Intel 154 jobs, and Crown Castle 131 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 64.72% share of total new job postings, Q1 2024

The largest share of autonomous vehicles-related new job postings in the technology industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 64.72% followed by India (5.88%) and the Philippines (4.10%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points lower than the 66.91% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
