A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11923008B2) discloses a ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) system comprising multiple search lines, memory cell strings with memory cells connected to the search lines, and current sensing units. During a search operation, the system determines if the data stored in the memory cell strings matches the data string being searched based on the detection of current by the sensing units or the magnitude of the current flowing from the memory cell strings. Each memory cell in a particular memory cell string consists of a first transistor and a second transistor, with specific programming operations for different values and "don't care" scenarios.

Furthermore, the TCAM system includes features such as grouping memory cell strings with current sensing units through AND gates, programming thresholds for transistors based on different values, applying specific search voltages for different values, and utilizing "wild card" searches. The system also involves serially connecting transistors in memory cell strings, arranging memory cells in sets for programming data, and connecting first and second transistors in series. Additionally, a decision generation method for TCAM involves receiving a target data string, determining masks, applying searching voltages to search lines, generating decision parameters based on current values sensed by current sensing units, and making decisions based on these parameters. The method also includes determining whether to make a decision based on the decision parameters generated.
