The granted patent (Publication Number: US11929663B2) discloses an apparatus and a memory module comprising a power management integrated circuit with a voltage regulator, charge pump, and self-biased switch. The voltage regulator generates a bias voltage output based on outputs from the voltage regulator and charge pump. The charge pump adjusts its output based on a comparison between the bias voltage output and a reference voltage. The self-biased switch switches between outputting the charge pump voltage and having a high output impedance. The second power source supplying the charge pump has a smaller voltage than the first power source, which can be a variable voltage source while the second power source is static.

Furthermore, the apparatus and memory module include a charge pump that is a switched capacitor voltage converter with two sides comprising capacitors that charge and discharge alternately based on a clock signal. The frequency of the clock signal is determined by the comparison between the bias voltage output and the reference voltage, ensuring the capacitors are fully charged and discharged within a specific range. The self-biased switch, comprising a n-well biased by head-to-head diodes, controls the output impedance. The memory module also features a power management integrated circuit supplied by two power sources, generating a bias voltage output based on the charge pump voltage output, and includes similar components as the apparatus described in the patent claims.
