A lens module with support members of different rigidity

A recently filed patent (Publication Number: US20230314753A1) describes a lens module that includes a lens barrel and a support member. The support member consists of two parts: a first support member made of a first material and a second support member made of a different second material. The first support member is designed to support the lens, while the second support member is positioned away from the lens. Importantly, the rigidity of the second support member is greater than that of the first support member.
In one embodiment, the first support member is in direct contact with the lens to provide support. The support member is configured in a ring shape, and a portion of the first support member's surface in the optical axis direction is in contact with the lens, while another portion in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis is in contact with the lens barrel to support the lens. The first support member includes a step on its surface, on which the second support member is placed. The second support member is exposed in the optical axis direction, and an empty space is formed between the second support member and the lens.
The support member also includes protrusions that extend from the second support member and protrude in the outer diameter direction of the first support member. These protrusions are positioned closer to the lens barrel than the side surface of the first support member on which they are located. The support member can be configured as a pressing ring, consisting of a first pressing ring and a second pressing ring. The second pressing ring, made of a different material, is integrally formed with the first pressing ring and positioned below the surface of the first pressing ring that contacts the lens in the optical axis direction. The rigidity of the second pressing ring is greater than that of the first pressing ring.
The patent application also describes the formation of inclined portions on the inner circumferential surface of the first pressing ring. These inclined portions have different inclination angles with respect to the optical axis.
Overall, this patent application presents a lens module design that utilizes different materials and support structures to enhance rigidity and support for the lens. The use of a two-part support member and the inclusion of protrusions and inclined portions provide improved stability and performance for the lens module.
