Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive social media-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 22%, emerged as the top social media-related job roles within the technology industry in Q1 2024, with new job postings rising by 18% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 17% in Q1 2024, with new job postings rising by 9% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent social media roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with an 8% share in Q1 2024, Sales and Related Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in technology industry accounted for 38% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2024 were Meta Platforms, ASM International, DXC Technology, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Delivery Hero. Together they accounted for a combined share of 38% of all social media-related new jobs in the technology industry.

Meta Platforms posted 3,290 social media-related new jobs in Q1 2024, ASM International 3,064 jobs, DXC Technology 1,867 jobs, Hewlett Packard Enterprise 1,454 jobs, and Delivery Hero 672 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 50.34% share of total new job postings, Q1 2024

The largest share of social media-related new job postings in the technology industry in Q1 2024 was in the US with 50.34% followed by India (9.26%) and the UK (4.01%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 51.43% share it accounted for in Q4 2023.
