The UK technology industry saw a rise of 4.4% in overall deal activity during July 2020, when compared with the last 12-month average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 118 deals worth $8.73bn were announced in July 2020, compared to the 12-month average of 113 deals.

Venture financing was the leading category in the month in terms of volume with 68 deals which accounted for 57.6% of all deals.

In second place was M&A with 38 deals, followed by private equity with 12 transactions, respectively accounting for 32.2% and 10.2% of overall deal activity in the country’s technology industry during the month.

The combined value of the top five technology deals stood at $8.13bn, against the overall value of $8.73bn recorded for the month.

1) The merger of Clarivate Analytics (US) and CPA Global for $6.8bn

2) The $1bn acquisition of OneWeb by Bharti Global, UK Secretary of State for Business and Energy and Industrial Strategy

3) One Equity Partners’s $200m venture financing of Infobip

4) The $78.59m acquisition of Weare4C UK by Wipro Biomed

5) Balderton Capital (UK), Index Ventures and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan’s venture financing of IVXS for $50m.
