In September 2025, Verizon Business held an ‘Innovation Session’ for enterprise, small business, and public sector customers.
The event was the fourth in a series launched in April 2025 with the next scheduled later in the year for November, before wrapping up in December. Each session is intended to educate attendees about Verizon Business network capabilities and the ways it can help enhance their business operations.
The agenda included information sessions on select networking technology – such as 5G network slicing, global IoT, next-generation wireless networks, and cybersecurity, alongside product demos, customer testimonials, and a dollop of executive sound bites.
While innovative perhaps, the technologies were definitely diverse and impressive, and they underscore Verizon’s position as a leader in networking.
Network slicing
Verizon Business has offered 5G network slicing only since December 2024, with the launch of ‘Verizon Enhanced Video Calling (EVC) for Phones’. It provides low latency for uninterrupted video communications and clear calls. In April 2025, support for first responders was introduced. It is tailored to provide low latency and reliability and connects mobile units during disasters and large events. On the roadmap is a solution aimed at venues and events referred to as ‘event-based network slices’ that provides connectivity in the face of planned surges in traffic. No launch date has yet been communicated.
5G network slicing has already generated positive momentum for Verizon. Verizon EVC for Phones has more than 100,000 users already signed up while the first responders offer has over 25 engagements in 13 states across the US.

Verizon ThingSpace is the global IoT flagship offer for Verizon Business, a connectivity and device management platform-as-a-service (PaaS) solution that enables customers to implement global IoT and fixed wireless access (FWA) solutions via cellular connectivity. One category of global IoT with Verizon Business is also getting involved with is satellite IoT, which is noteworthy for providing connectivity in remote and underserved areas by weaving non-terrestrial networks into cellular systems.
The global IoT market represents a substantial opportunity for Verizon Business. The company expects global IoT connections to nearly triple in by 2030 with 1.3 billion connections in 2024 expanding to 3.6 billion in 2030. Satellite IoT is expected to reach 22.7 million connections at a 12% CAGR to 2030, signaling substantial growth.
The mission of Verizon Business’s ‘Next Generation Wireless Networks’ is to support customers’ digital transformation strategies and objectives. Two Verizon Business networks team up to make the transformation a reality: Verizon Business’s neutral host network provides 5G public network connectivity while the company’s private wireless network serves as a less-expensive and more carrier-grade wireless alternative to distributed antenna systems (DAS). Verizon Business is also leveraging edge computing and programmable network capabilities to support AI-powered applications.
Verizon Business and DBIR
The centerpiece of the discussion concerning Verizon Business cybersecurity capabilities was the 2025 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR). The report is based upon an impressive number of data breaches, which Verizon has examined – more than 12,000 – involving prevalent attack methods such as ransomware and participation of third parties, mobile device security, the dangers of AI on corporate networks, and social engineering and “smishing” attacks.
In addition to reviewing the DBIR, Verizon Business explored its network visibility capabilities. Providing network visibility is a key component of Verizon’s cybersecurity efforts as it enables customers to see and act on cyberattacks. It also lets customers anticipate emerging threats sooner.
Overall, the event furnished an insightful view into Verizon’s network capabilities. However, future events would benefit from greater emphasis on the advantages Verizon Business holds over competitors, a review of customer support capabilities, and ways the company goes beyond merely providing technology and supports business outcomes.
