Apple has increased its recruitment activity in China, focusing on AI, machine learning (ML) and data infrastructure, according to a report by market intelligence firm GlobalData.
The technology company posted new job roles in cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin during July and August 2026.

GlobalData’s Job Analytics Database indicates this move reflects a broader strategy to reinforce China’s position within Apple’s global technology ecosystem.
The recent listings covered a range of specialist areas. These included AI, ML, data platforms, as well as supply chain, privacy and export compliance functions.
According to GlobalData, the breadth of these roles reflects Apple’s ongoing investment in China as a centre for technology and manufacturing, while indicating a shift towards a more integrated and complex operational model in the country.
GlobalData business fundamentals analyst Sherla Sriprada said: “Apple’s hiring activity in China points to a multi-dimensional strategy that extends well beyond manufacturing.
“The roles in AI, machine learning, data infrastructure and wireless technologies suggests that China continues to play an important role in Apple’s technology and operational ecosystem, while recruitment in privacy, export compliance and logistics highlights the increasing complexity of operating in the market.”
Among the posts advertised was an “AI Product Manager – APO BPR” role in Shanghai, centred on generative AI, digitalisation, supply chain, and industrial automation.
Apple also recruited for positions such as “Engineering Manager Athena Platform Services, IS&T AI & Data Platforms” and “Data Platform Engineer, Emerging Technology Solutions” in Shanghai. These roles focus on areas such as data analytics, ML, cloud, and technologies linked to data centres.
In Beijing, several roles targeted ML, AI and computer vision. These included “Machine Learning Engineer – Generative AI & Agents”, “Machine Learning Engineer – AI, Search & Knowledge Platform” and a “Computer Vision / Machine Learning Intern (Video Intelligence)” position.
Additional listings indicated an interest in connectivity, supply chain resilience, and risk management.
Postings such as “Cellular Protocol Stack Development Engineer, Wireless Tech and Ecosystems” in Beijing and “APO Logistics Manager” in Shanghai referenced wireless technologies, predictive analytics, AI, and robotics.
Roles including “APAC Privacy Counsel (China)” in Beijing and “China Export Compliance Program Manager” focused on privacy, export compliance, cybersecurity, and intellectual property.
Sriprada said: “Apple’s recruitment mix demonstrates how it is building the capabilities needed to sustain innovation while navigating a more complex regulatory, technological and geopolitical environment.”
