The partnership aims to create a browser specifically designed for knowledge work in the context of the AI revolution.
Current web browsers were developed prior to the surge of Software as a Service (SaaS) applications and the ongoing advancements in AI, said Atlassian.
Designed primarily for the general consumer market, these browsers do not cater to the specific needs of knowledge workers who depend on them for their tasks.
For these professionals, each browser tab represents a distinct workflow, whether it involves scheduling meetings, reviewing designs, or drafting memos.

By GlobalDataExisting browsers function as passive tools, lacking the contextual awareness necessary to integrate business processes effectively, which can hinder productivity.
Atlassian and The Browser Company plan to target this space by positioning Dia as the AI-driven browser for professional use.
The new browser will be optimised for the SaaS applications that knowledge workers utilise daily, enhancing each tab with relevant context to facilitate progress.
It will incorporate AI capabilities and personal work memory to bridge the gaps between various applications, tabs, and tasks.
With a customer base exceeding 300,000, including more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies, Atlassian will introduce Dia to a vast number of new users.
The company also brings experience in scaling AI solutions, with more than 2.3 million monthly active users engaging with its AI features.
Atlassian CEO and co-founder Mike Cannon-Brookes said: “By combining The Browser Company’s passion for building beloved browsers with our two decades of understanding how knowledge workers operate, we see a huge opportunity to transform the way work gets done.
“Together, we’ll create an AI-powered browser optimized for the many SaaS applications living in tabs – one that knowledge workers will love to use every day.”
The acquisition will be financed through Atlassian’s cash reserves and is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, pending customary closing conditions and necessary regulatory approvals.
