8. Shenzhen, China
Shenzhen, home to internet giant Tencent and China’s telecommunications hardware leader Huawei Technologies is one of China’s wealthiest cities and a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Shenzhen draws a mix of business people, investors and migrant workers and earlier this year a report by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences found Shenzhen to be the the most economically competitive city in the country.
Shenzhen is also a useful transport hub for other parts of China.
