One&Only Royal Mirage

One&Only Royal Mirage

One&Only Royal Mirage is considered Dubai’s most stylish beach resort, where genuine care and hospitality blend with fantasy and tradition, creating an ambiance of Arabian-influenced refinement.

Representing an oasis of calm in the heart of bustling ‘new Dubai’, the resort offers understated elegance and exclusive charm with private coastline and acres of lush gardens. One&Only Royal Mirage consists of three equally distinctive properties: The Palace, the Arabian Court and the Residence & Spa. Within the elegant entrance courtyard of the Residence & Spa lies the Health & Beauty Institute. Architecturally impressive and reminiscent of the great buildings of the region, it captures the values of the environs and ensures each experience is totally distinctive and ceremonial. The Spa and Oriental Hammam offer a service that is dedicated to nurturing beauty and the pursuit of well-being. The resort features some of Dubai’s favorite restaurants, offering a variety of casual and elegant settings, such as the Beach Bar & Grill at The Palace for seafood and grills, Celebrities for international cuisine, Tagine for a truly Moroccan experience and Olives for a Mediterranean buffet. The Residence & Spa offers the exclusive Dining Room, whilst the Arabian Court features Eauzone, casual yet refined with an Asian twist, and Nina, the moody and vibrant Indo-European dining venue. The Rooftop Lounge and The Jetty are among Dubai’s trendiest evening venues.

Suite style: The villa is designed by Wilson & Associates in the spirit of the Orient, incorporating highly acclaimed Arabian architecture and featuring two separate bedrooms.

Bab Al Yam Terrace, Burj Al Arab

A world famous landmark and a marvel of modern engineering, the Burj Al Arab is the symbol of Dubai’s prosperity and luxury.

Jutting 300 meters into the Arabian Gulf on its own man–made island, it was created to represent the shape of a billowing Arabian dhow sail. The building of the Burj Al Arab was limited by neither expense nor imagination, and as a result it is now one of the world’s most celebrated hotels.

Burj Al Arab Royal Suite

Why we love it: A private elevator whisks you to this massive palatial suite spanning the entire 25th floor of the Burj Al Arab. Through the entrance door there is a grand hall accommodating an extravagant marble and gold staircase leading to the suite’s second level. Over the two levels one can find a private cinema, a four poster rotating canopy bed in the main bedroom, a second bedroom with adjacent marble bathroom and a beautiful majlis entertaining area, while the floor–to–ceiling windows offer unrivalled views of Dubai.

  • Square footage: 8,400
  • Nightly rate: $19,000

Far removed from the hustle and construction of Dubai, Al Maha is located 65 kilometers into the desert along the Dubai-Al Ain road.

Here 42 suites, each with a private pool, are scattered across the golden dunes and the palm groves of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. This reserve is one of the largest formally protected conservations in the Gulf and gives its guests complete tranquility and a freedom to wander amongst its splendors on foot or horseback. Guests can dine wherever they choose with the ultimate in personalized service with a ratio of three staff to every one guest.

Al Diwaan Restaurant

Why we love it: With 6,200 square feet of meticulously designed luxury, this suite is the ultimate in desert sophistication. Its tranquil inner courtyard holds two fountains and leads to a large wooden deck with private pool overlooking miles of sand dunes. Three bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and a majlis lounge are adorned with original antiques and artifacts. Set apart from the other rooms and suites the luxury of this suite is in its privacy, but it also benefits from Al Maha’s meticulous service; everything from the temperature of your coffee and swimming pool to the personal itineraries can be customized before your arrival. Every extravagance is catered for; the Presidential Suite even has quarters for your private staff.

Amaseena Restaurant, The Ritz-Carlton Dubai

An exclusive beachfront address right in the heart of the fashionable Dubai Marina and surrounded by gardens, the Ritz-Carlton Dubai has an aura that is more akin to the Mediterranean than the Middle East.

Adjacent to two championship golf courses, the Emirates and Montgomery, and with its own tennis courts and fitness spa, the Ritz-Carlton Dubai is certainly a destination for the active.

Why we love it: This traditionally furnished suite features opulent Italian marble and mahogany accents in the living room, dining area and two ensuite bedrooms. The lounge flows through into the dining room, which includes its own kitchen, making this suite ideal for entertaining. The ensuite marble bathrooms are truly luxurious, boasting a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. Positioned on the fifth floor of the hotel, the Ritz-Carlton Suite offers the finest views of the surrounding garden, pool and turquoise waters of the Persian gulf.

Al Khaimah Tented Pool Villa

Close to the older Emirate Ras Al Khaimah, and set amidst stretches of sand in the heart of Wadi Khadeja, is Banyan Tree Al Wadi, a luxurious desert retreat.

This unique hotel, a 90-minute drive from Dubai International airport, is nestled within its own 100–hectare nature reserve and comprises individual pool villas. Also spread out among the sand dunes and beaches are Asian–inspired hydrotherapy spa facilities, a private beach club and an 18 hole championship golf course.

Why we love it: This beautifully designed pool villa is truly one of a kind. From afar it resembles a traditional and simple Bedouin tent, secluded from the rest of the resort by scorched sand dunes. However, the interior dispels any assumptions; its size is more marquee than simple Bedouin tent, and the two bedrooms and bathrooms are graciously appointed under the vast canvas canopy. French windows lead out onto a private terrace enveloped by verdant gardens, and an infinity pool reflects the stunning dunes beyond.

Why we love it: Arrive at this suite via a private elevator and step into the elaborate majlis lounge area, which flows through to a large terrace with majestic views of the Madinet Jumeirah citadel and the spectacular Burj Al Arab hotel beyond. A personal butler serves daily afternoon tea or pre–dinner canapés, either on this luxurious terrace or in the dining room. There are three expansive bedrooms, all with private dressing areas and ensuite bathrooms.

Zighy Bay occupies a very special spot on Oman’s Musandam Peninsula.

Hidden behind the majestic Hajar Mountains and fronted by a 1.6 kilometer white beach, the Six Senses resort feels as mythical as the landscape that surrounds it. The location may be remote but that only adds to the imaginative ways of arrival; guests can either arrive by speedboat or paraglide off the towering mountains into the heart of the bay. There is, of course, the safer option of driving — only 90 minutes from Dubai International airport. The resort itself is set in the style of a traditional Omani village.

Why we love it: It is hard to find somewhere more exclusive than the Beit Musandam, also known as The Private Reserve. Here you are waited on by a live–in butler and personal chef who will cater to your every need, regardless of the time. Far away from the main resort, yet not compromising the stunning vistas across the bay, Beit Musandam has its own stretch of beach, garden and oversized infinity pool. The house is subtle, reflecting traditional Omani architecture, yet it is vast, with four en-suite bedrooms, a variety of separate living and dining areas, a gym and a wine cellar. Grandiose yet subtle, the emphasis is on privacy and space with particular attention to detail.
