Content data holding system for games with extended functions
A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11998838B2) discloses a content data holding system that includes at least one first server and at least one second server. The first server is equipped with a content storage medium, a management information storage medium, and a processor running a management program for content data. The second server is responsible for receiving and transmitting content data to information processing devices. The management program on the first server determines the validity of the right to use extended functions based on stored information and restricts data transmission if the right is deemed invalid. Additionally, the system limits the migration of content data to the first server and allows bulk migration if the right is valid.
Furthermore, the content data holding system involves a second information processing device that interacts with the first server. The management program dictates the transmission and reception of content data based on the validity of the right to use extended functions. If the right is valid, content data is transmitted to the second information processing device and stored in the content storage medium up to a specified limit. However, if the right is invalid, data transmission is restricted. The system also allows for the exclusion of certain content data exceeding storage limits and the transmission of other data to the second information processing device in case of an invalid right. Additionally, the system supports use right purchase instructions, settlement processing, and updating of valid period information for a predetermined period to maintain the validity of the right.
