E3 2018 conference schedule e3 2018 rumours

Confirmed:

So far, Microsoft is yet to actually directly confirm a single title it’ll be showing at E3. However, it has said this year’s E3 will be its biggest yet. There’s a few rumours which are looking fairly likely.

Almost certain:

  • Sea Of Thieves DLC – Seeing as Microsoft only just released this quirky pirate simulator, there’s every reason to believe it’ll show off a bit of DLC or new game modes for the game as they continue to play with and tweak the formula. Who knows what this could be, but it’s a fairly safe bet that it’ll happen.
  • Ori and the Will of Wisps – Announced at last year’s E3 with a trailer this one is a no-brainer for Microsoft. It could be the perfect game to show off the stunning 4K resolution of its new Xbox One X console (which is going on sale for the week of E3.) A charming puzzle-solving platformer in a Metroidvania style would be a welcome addition to Microsoft’s line-up.
  • Crackdown 3 – There’s good reason to think Microsoft may launch a Netflix style subscription model for games at this year’s E3 and if it does, this is the title to do it with. The game has received various delays but it is supposedly coming in 2018. Microsoft has already confirmed Crackdown 3 would be available play at no additional cost to Xbox Game Pass subscribers, so it’d be a perfect advert for a game streaming system. Then again, brand new rumours are now saying it has been shunted down to a 2019 release date.

Rumours:

  • Halo: Infinity – It’s been a little while since gamers heard from the Halo series, but word on the street is that Microsoft is gearing up to announce a new title to its tentpole series. This would mark the final title in the new Halo trilogy, which started with Halo 4 and continued in Halo 5.
  • Xbox One game streaming system – Microsoft has been inching closer and closer to announcing a ‘Netflix for games’ model for its Xbox and there’s every reason to believe this E3 is the one which could make that dream a reality.
  • Fable 4 – Rumours have been swirling about Fable 4 for a while, but this year Eurogamer got its hands on a scoop that said Forza Horizons developer PlayGround Games was working on a new title in the franchise. Still, its widely thought PlayGround is still pulling together a development team for it, so unless it’s made a lot of progress or just a concept trailer, don’t expect to see much from this one.
  • Gears Of War 5 and Forza Horizons 4 – Not much is known about either of these, but they were both ‘leaked’ through Walmart Canada’s online listings. While that’d be easy to dismiss on its own, various other titles revealed through that listing, including Lego DC Super-Villains, Rage 2, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, have seen been confirmed.

On the next page we’ll share what to expect from Bethesda Softworks’ and Devolver Digital’s conferences.
