IT jobs accounted for a 26.15% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2021, registering an increase of 0.41% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 72.01% in May 2021, a 12.15% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 10.62% in May 2021, marking a 7.49% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.68% in May 2021, an 11.83% growth from April 2021.

Top five technology companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in May 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 65.62% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s technology industry during May 2021 over previous month.

DXC Technology posted 1,616 IT jobs in May 2021 and registered a an increase of 84.47% over the previous month, followed by International Business Machines with 1,384 jobs and a 7.7% growth. CGI Group with 628 IT jobs and Accenture with 400 jobs, recorded a 15600% growth and a 365.12% increase, respectively, while Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson recorded a 9.52% decline with 361 job postings during May 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s technology industry

Switzerland commanded a leading presence in the region’s technology industry IT hiring activity with a 14.95% share in May 2021, a 50.6% rise over April 2021. the UK featured next with a 14.58% share, up 4.17% over the previous month. Romania recorded an 11.73% share, a growth of 14.64% compared with April 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.92%, up by 10.02% from April 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.07% share, a growth of 6.23% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.53% share, up 16.22% over April 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.47%, recording a month-on-month decline of 29.41%.
