The global technology industry noticed a 4.5% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 over the previous month, led by Accenture’s 13.96% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The technology industry’s overall hiring activity increased 4.43% when compared with July 2021.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 33.64% share of the global technology industry’s hiring activity in August 2021, up 0.94% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of August 2021 were 2.03% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 3.89% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 76.18% emerged as the top IT occupation in the technology hiring activity in August 2021, a 5.24% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 9.26% in August 2021, up 12.73% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 5.69% share in August 2021, a growth of 7.21% over the previous month, and Computer Support Specialists with a 4.18% share in August 2021 and a rise of 8.42% over July 2021.
Top five technology companies by recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 0.46% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global technology industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Accenture posted 11,615 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 20.36% over the previous month, followed by Cognizant Technology Solutions with 11,077 jobs and a 1.17% decline. International Business Machines with 5,478 IT jobs and Dell Technologies with 3,490 jobs, recorded a 61.35% growth and a 35.74% rise, respectively, while Nippon Telegraph and Telephone recorded a 13.84% rise with 2,081 job postings during August 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in technology industry
Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global technology IT hiring activity in August 2021 with a 47.48% share, which marked a 2.03% drop over the previous month.
North America stood next with 36.97%, registering a 27.75% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with a 12.73% share and a 10.34% drop over July 2021.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 1.23% and a month-on-month rise of 3.74%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.2%, registering a 9.02% decrease over the previous month.
