IT jobs accounted for a 24.58% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2021, registering an increase of 0.25% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 66.92% in May 2021, a 7.68% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 10.92% in May 2021, marking a 0.6% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.44% in May 2021, an 8.49% growth from April 2021.

Top five technology companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 49.51% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s technology industry during May 2021 over previous month.
International Business Machines posted 1,393 IT jobs in May 2021 and registered a an increase of 4.42% over the previous month, followed by AT&T with 966 jobs and a 96.74% growth. CGI Group with 829 IT jobs and Dell Technologies with 790 jobs, recorded a 5081.25% growth and a 6.06% drop, respectively, while Capgemini recorded a 55.98% an increase with 769 job postings during May 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s technology industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s technology industry IT hiring activity with an 86.53% share in May 2021, a 4.31% rise over April 2021. Canada featured next with an 11.77% share, up 23.55% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.7% share, a drop of 14.89% compared with April 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.6%, up by 2.4% from April 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.17% share, a growth of 12.7% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.54% share, up 25.59% over April 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.69%, recording a month-on-month decline of 31.94%.
