To say that there’s a lot of hype around Made By Google‘s latest product line-up is an understatement.

Google have brought out the big guns to take on the iPhone X with their Google Pixel 2. In addition, they’re showing off their take on the Macbook with the Pixelbook. But it’s not all just Apple-aping. Google’s Pixel Buds are a new set of headphones capable of translating 40 languages instantly. There’s also the new range of Google Home smart speakers. And finally, Google Daydream View promises to bring Google into the VR world.

Unfortunately for customers, for most of these products (except perhaps the Pixel 2) there’s no place to try these products before buying. Having an online store certainly works wonders for keeping operating costs down. On the other hand, there’s nothing like seeing products in the flesh to generate some excitement. For something like the Daydream View, allowing customers to try it out could be key to selling the concept.

So perhaps its understandable that Google are launching a pair of pop-up shops in both New York City and Los Angeles to celebrate the release of their new tech line-up.

How to visit the Made By Google pop-ups:

This year’s Made By Google pop-ups will both open on 10am on 19th October in their respective time zones. That’s the same day the Google Pixel 2 comes out so expect the phone to be the major attraction on show. The shops will close at 8pm.

The New York City shop can be found at 110 Fifth Avenue. Meanwhile the Los Angeles branch is located at 8552 Melrose Avenue.

There is so far no indication of how long the stores will be open for so if you’re in the neighbourhood get down there while you can.

It might also be of interest that Google have been pushing their Google Home Mini hard. In fact, the tech company have been giving them away totally free at pop-up doughnut stores across North America. Chances are they’ll probably offer a similar freebie to those who arrive early at their pop-ups, so it might be worth queuing up.

What will be in the Made By Google pop-up stores?:

This actually isn’t the first time Google are doing pop-up stores. They did the same thing last year to mark the launch of the original Google Pixel. While Google loses points for originality, that means we have some idea about what’s in store (pun intended) for customers.

Last year there were numerous celebrity guests in attendance throughout the day. There were also live performances from the likes of A-Trak, Kaytranada, Lou Phelps, Kitty Cash and Haim. Very exciting.

And obviously, the Google Pixel was front and centre. You can probably expect the same thing this time around, only with the Pixel 2 instead. You’ll most likely be able to buy a new phone while you’re there or get your hands on some other Google tech.

Last year, Google Daydream View also had a large booth. If you’ve never tried VR before, this is definitely something you should make a beeline to if it makes a reappearance.

There’s plenty of pictures of the weird and wonderful stuff Google had in their pop-up last year too!
