IT jobs accounted for a 26.87% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.4% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 69.53% in August 2021, a 33.16% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 9.92% in August 2021, marking a 17.61% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.31% in August 2021, a 9.29% rise from July 2021.

Top five technology companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 49.89% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s technology industry during August 2021 over previous month.
International Business Machines posted 1,560 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 109.4% over the previous month, followed by Dell Technologies with 1,499 jobs and a 73.7% growth. Cognizant Technology Solutions with 1,194 IT jobs and AT&T with 970 jobs, recorded a 2.29% drop and a 71.08% rise, respectively, while Nippon Telegraph and Telephone recorded a 31.97% increase with 966 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s technology industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s technology industry IT hiring activity with a 90.05% share in August 2021, a 31.46% increase over July 2021. Canada featured next with an 8.21% share, up 1.41% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.75% share, a growth of 3.47% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.11%, up by 27.54% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 34.45% share, registered a growth of 29.74% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.79% share, up 22.41% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.66%, recording a month-on-month growth of 24.69%.
