The UK technology industry saw a drop of 1.8% in overall deal activity during June 2020, when compared with the last 12-month average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 111 deals worth $1.8bn were announced in June 2020, compared to the 12-month average of 113 deals.

Venture financing was the leading category in the month in terms of volume with 62 deals which accounted for 55.9% of all deals.

In second place was M&A with 35 deals, followed by private equity with 14 transactions, respectively accounting for 31.5% and 12.6% of overall deal activity in the country’s technology industry during the month.

In terms of value of deals, M&A was the leading deal category in the UK technology industry with total deals worth $1.03bn, while private equity and venture financing deals totalled $506.73m and $260.99m, respectively.

UK technology industry deals in June 2020: Top deals

The top five technology industry deals accounted for 72.3% of the overall value during June 2020.

The combined value of the top five technology deals stood at $1.3bn, against the overall value of $1.8bn recorded for the month.

The top five technology industry deals of June 2020 tracked by GlobalData were:

1) Elliott Management, Evergreen Coast Capital and Siris Capital Group’s $500m private equity deal with Travelport Worldwide

2) The $353.08m acquisition of Moka International by T.C.L. Industries Holdings (H.K.)

3) Investment Managementof Ontario and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners’ $278.91m private equity deal with euNetworks Group

4) The $100m private equity deal with Darktrace by KKR &Inc and Summit Partners

5) Access UK’s acquisition of Eclipse Legal Systems for $70.5m.
