WHEN BEST TO GO

The best time to visit Venice is between spring and autumn (from April to October).

However, visiting Venice in July or August is not recommended as it is very hot and humid and also gets quite crowded.

LOCAL CuSTOMS

It is an offence to sit on steps and in courtyards near public buildings, including the main churches. Eating and drinking in the vicinity should also be avoided. Shorts, vests or any other immodest clothing should never be worn inside churches.

ATTIRE

There are no rules about what to wear in Venice, except in churches where visitors should dress respectfully. Both men and women must cover their shoulders and knees (and everything in between), and women should avoid wearing low-cut tops.
