Advantech has unveiled new edge AI solutions based on the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-9075 processor, including the AOM-6741 SMARC module, ASR-A503 and AFE-A503 robotic controllers, and the AIR-055 edge AI system.

According to the Taiwanese industrial automation company, the platforms are designed for industrial-grade vision intelligence.

The platforms offer up to 100 TOPS AI performance, enabling support for as many as 16 concurrent cameras. Their capabilities are intended to move applications from traditional machine vision to real-time vision reasoning in robotics, industrial automation, and smart surveillance.

The Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-9075 processor features an advanced architecture that integrates an image signal processor (ISP), vision processing unit (VPU), and neural processing unit (NPU).

The processor also includes high-speed interfaces such as mobile industry processor interface-camera serial interface (MIPI-CSI), Universal Serial Bus (USB) 3.0, and gigabit Ethernet (GbE). This supports efficient image preprocessing and high-throughput video streaming, as well as scalable multi-camera setups.

Advantech claims that the processor achieves up to 100 TOPS (dense) and 200 TOPS (sparse) AI performance, facilitating low-latency, high-accuracy computer vision applications such as object detection, tracking, and optical character recognition (OCR).

The IQ-9075 uses a heterogeneous Arm-based architecture, incorporating an eight-core Qualcomm Kryo Gen 6 central processing unit (CPU) and an integrated real-time microcontroller unit (MCU) subsystem. This combination is intended to provide deterministic performance for latency-sensitive and safety-critical industrial uses.

The integration of AI processing and real-time control aims to deliver responsive, reliable, and scalable edge intelligence for industrial environments.

Advantech is also offering software services including bootloader, operating system, and application development support.

The Advantech BSP Launcher is provided to streamline board support package (BSP) and image management.

The Edge AI software development kit (SDK) and Robotics Suite combine AI frameworks, multimedia pipelines, and Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2)-based tools to facilitate rapid development and help shorten customers’ time-to-market.

Detailed specifications include the AOM-6741 SMARC 2.2 full-size module supporting PCI Express (PCIe) 3.0, USB 3.2 Gen2, and MIPI-CSI interfaces with an operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C.

The ASR-A503 and AFE-A503 robotic controllers offer four gigabit Ethernet (GbE), four USB, two communication (COM) ports, two controller area network with flexible data-rate (CAN FD), 16-bit digital input/output (DIO), up to eight gigabit multimedia serial link (GMSL), and operate from -20 to 70°C and -20 to 55°C, respectively.

The AIR-055 fanless multimodal vision AI edge system features USB 3.2, 2.5GbE options with power over Ethernet (PoE), and operates from -20 to 55°C.

Separately, last month Advantech announced server and network platforms using AMD EPYC 9006 Series processors. These platforms offer up to 128 cores, “Zen 6” and “Zen 6c” architecture, and a 2nm process.

Additional features include up to 20% generational performance improvement, DDR5-8000 and multi-rank dual in-line memory module (MRDIMM) 12.8G support, PCIe Gen6 scalability, and Compute Express Link (CXL) 3.1 support for industrial workloads.
