Quantum computing firm Quantinuum has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi oil major Aramco to explore industrial uses and potential research collaboration on fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Under the agreement, the companies intend to conduct preliminary technical onboarding and exchange knowledge. They will seek Aramco challenges suitable for quantum computing research, focusing on complex issues in energy and digital transformation.

The MoU also aims to enhance quantum computing capabilities.
Quantinuum and Aramco will assess whether future generations of quantum systems could address relevant scientific and industrial challenges, while benchmarking quantum computing modalities.
Quantinuum president and CEO Rajeeb Hazra said: “Organisations that expect to benefit from quantum computing need to begin developing their expertise, algorithms and workflows today.
“This MoU creates a framework for Quantinuum and Aramco to exchange expertise, identify important industrial challenges and prepare for a deeper research collaboration. By combining Aramco’s scientific and engineering knowledge with Quantinuum’s integrated hardware and software capabilities, we aim to build a strong foundation for research across future generations of quantum computing.”
Quantinuum said the collaboration complements Aramco’s initiatives involving advanced quantum technologies in the energy industry, as well as its digital transformation efforts and quantum computing roadmap.
Last month, Quantinuum announced a collaborative development agreement with Quanta Computer intended to help establish an industrial foundation for the next era of quantum computing. The partners plan to jointly develop hardware infrastructure for future Quantinuum quantum systems.
Quantinuum also last month announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Oracle. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) customers will be able to access Quantinuum’s Helios through the former’s quantum service alongside high-performance computing and GPU infrastructure.
The companies plan to explore hybrid quantum-AI infrastructure for computationally intensive enterprise challenges and broaden access for universities and research institutions.
In May 2026, Aramco and Pasqal officially inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s first quantum computer. They also unveiled the Middle East’s first commercial Quantum Computing as a Service (QCaaS) platform, intended to build regional expertise and accelerate quantum application development across the energy, materials and industrial sectors.
