Canada technology industry registered a 1.3% rise in IT hiring activity in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.25% in July 2021 compared with June 2021.
Out of the technology industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 32.3% share in July 2021, recording an increase of 0.29% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada technology industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.78% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada technology industry in July 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 73.34% in July 2021, an 11.07% drop over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 7.56% share, decline of 13.91% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 7.33%, registering a 27% decline from June 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.15%, down 13.44% over the previous month.
Top five technology companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 28.17% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada technology industry during July 2021 over June 2021.
Open Text posted 303 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered a drop of 5.02% over the previous month, followed by Ubisoft Entertainment with 156 jobs and a 79.31% growth. Cognizant Technology Solutions with 150 IT jobs and CGI Group with 136 jobs, recorded an 1150% growth and a 7.48% decline, respectively, while Capgemini recorded an 8.49% increase with 115 job postings during July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.37%, down by 13.14% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25.71% share, a decline of 11.8% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.35% share, down 7.82% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.57%, recording a month-on-month increase of 25%.
