Japan-based chipmaker NanoBridge Semiconductor has entered into an agreement with Siemens to use its Precision FPGA Synthesis tool for field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development.

An FPGA is a type of computer chip that can be configured by the user after it has been manufactured to perform specific digital tasks. FPGA synthesis tools convert hardware designs into logic that can be implemented on FPGAs.

The move is intended to enhance the development process for NanoBridge Semiconductor’s NBS6503H and NBS1201 FPGA device families.

Siemens stated that under an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement, NanoBridge Semiconductor will offer a version of the Precision FPGA Synthesis tailored for its customers working with the company’s specific FPGA devices.

The aim is to help engineers achieve improved synthesis outcomes while supporting more efficient workflows.

NanoBridge Semiconductor develops non-volatile FPGA and memory devices using proprietary NanoBridge technology, with a focus on applications such as aerospace, secure elements, smart infrastructure, and automotive systems.

The collaboration with Siemens is expected to support further developments in FPGA design, technical support, and ecosystem building for these applications.

In April, Siemens and Humanoid conducted a trial involving a humanoid robot powered by Nvidia’s AI platform. The trial, which took place at Siemens’ electronics manufacturing facility in Erlangen, Germany, saw an HMND 01 Alpha robot perform tasks including picking, transporting, and placing containers in support of human operators.
