āThank you to everybody who used Multi. It was a privilege building with you, and we learnt a ton from you. We will miss your feedback and bug reports, but we canāt wait to show you what weāre up to next.ā

By GlobalDataMulti was founded in 2019 by ex-Dropbox product manager Alexander Embiricos and ex-Google software engineer Charley Ho.
The video-first collaboration platform, which is aimed at enterprise users, allows up to ten users to communicate via screen sharing and featured customisable shortcuts.
The startup had undergone a rebranding from ‘Remotion’ to ‘Multi’ in July 2023, a move that the company said completed a product shift announced earlier that year.
The shift was based on user feedback and involved iterating on new features while removing some old ones.
Before its acquisition by OpenAI, Multi had raised $13m in funding from venture capital firms including Greylock and First Round Capital.
The acquisition of Multi comes shortly after OpenAI’s purchase of enterprise analytics company Rockset, indicating a strategic focus on enhancing enterprise solutions.
