Technology industry cloud private equity deals total $15.82bn in US in Q4 2020

Total technology industry cloud private equity deals worth $15.82bn were announced in the US in Q4 2020, with RealPage’s $10.2bn private equity with The Thoma Bravo being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 7.2% over the previous quarter of $17.05bn and a rise of 28.1% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $12.35bn.

The US held a 91.98% share of the global technology industry cloud private equity deal value that totalled $17.2bn in Q4 2020.

In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 42 cloud deals during Q4 2020, marking a decrease of 20.75% over the previous quarter and a flat growth over the last four-quarter average.

The top five technology cloud private equity deals accounted for a 98.6% share of the overall value during Q4 2020.

The combined value of the top five cloud private equity deals stood at $15.6bn, against the overall value of $15.82bn recorded for the quarter.

The top five technology industry cloud deals of Q4 2020 tracked by GlobalData were:

1) Thoma Bravo’s $10.2bn private equity deal with RealPage

2) The $3bn private equity deal with Endurance International Group by Clearlake Capital Group

3) Digital Colony Partners’ $1.25bn private equity deal with Vantage Data Centers Management LLC

4) The $1bn private equity deal with Tribute Technology Holdings by The Carlyle Group and Vista Equity Partners Management

5) GIC and Thrive Capital’s private equity deal with Vimeo for $150m.
