Technology industry venture financing deals in June 2019 total $8.48bn globally

Total technology industry venture financing deals in June 2019 worth $8.48bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 14.8% over the previous month and a drop of 18% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $10.33bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $4.79bn. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $4.58bn.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for technology industry venture financing deals globally, followed by Europe and then Asia-Pacific.

The top country in terms of venture financing deals activity in June 2019 was the US with 334 deals, followed by China with 92 and the UK with 59.

In 2019, as of the end of June 2019, technology venture financing deals worth $56.38bn were announced globally, marking a flat growth year on year.

The top five technology industry venture financing deals accounted for 16.2% of the overall value during June 2019.

The combined value of the top five technology industry venture financing deals stood at $1.37bn, against the overall value of $8.48bn recorded for the month. The top announced technology industry venture financing deal tracked by GlobalData in June 2019 was Elephant Venture Capital, Next Generation Technology Fund and TenEleven Ventures’ $300m venture financing of KnowBe4.

In second place was the $300m venture financing of GPBR Participacoes by Atomico Investment Holdings, General Atlantic, SoftBank Latin America Fund, SoftBank Vision Fund and Valor Capital Management and in third place was Baoshan Iron & Steel, China Baowu Iron and Steel Group, China Merchants Capital Management, China State-owned Enterprise Structure Adjustment Fund, China Structural Reform Fund, CITIC Securities Investment and Shanghai Baosteel International Economic & Trading’s $292m venture financing of Ouyeel InternationalLtd..

The $250m venture financing of TripActions by Andreessen Horowitz, Group 11, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Zeev Ventures and Eurazeo, Highland Europe Fund, Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners and Sofina’s venture financing of Adjust for $227m held fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
