Anthropic has reached a deal to rent approximately $45bn in AI cloud computing capacity from Nscale, reported Bloomberg News, citing people familiar with the matter.
The six-year agreement will see Anthropic, an AI startup, source power from Nscale’s data centre campus in West Virginia as it prepares for a major public offering.

The cited source said Nscale, a cloud infrastructure provider founded in 2024, plans to utilise Nvidia’s new Vera Rubin chips for the project. These chips are set to begin powering Anthropic’s AI services in late 2027.
The planned computing installation is expected to support Anthropic’s expanding suite of products, including the AI coding tool, Claude Code, reported Reuters.
The deal reportedly secures about 460MW of power capacity for Anthropic over the term.
Anthropic has increased its expenditure on AI computing power in recent months to address rising demand for its offerings.
According to previous reports, the company is projecting revenue of between $190bn and $200bn by 2028, compared to an estimated current revenue “run rate” of $47bn.
The Nscale contract is the latest in a series of similar moves by Anthropic.
Earlier in August, the firm secured a $10bn, six-year cloud computing deal with Volta for capacity from a Norwegian data centre, and in July signed a $5bn partnership agreement with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) for AI servers.
SpaceX, in its filing for an initial public offering (IPO), revealed Anthropic had also agreed to pay $1.25bn monthly through May 2029 for access to compute capacity from its Colossus and Colossus II clusters.
Anthropic has further expanded partnerships with Amazon, Google and Broadcom, collectively enlarging its computing resources.
