France’s technology industry saw a drop of 43.9% in overall deal activity during April 2020, when compared with the last 12-month average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 23 deals worth $82.22m were announced in April 2020, compared to the 12-month average of 41 deals.

Venture financing was the leading category in the month in terms of volume with 11 deals which accounted for 47.8% of all deals.

In second place was M&A with nine deals, followed by private equity with three transactions, respectively accounting for 39.1% and 13.04% of overall deal activity in the country’s technology industry during the month.

In terms of value of deals, private equity was the leading deal category in France’s technology industry with total deals worth $63.45m, followed by M&A deals totalled $18.77m.

The top five technology industry deals accounted for 85.7% of the overall value during April 2020.

The combined value of the top five technology deals stood at $70.47m, against the overall value of $82.22m recorded for the month.

1) Alpha Capital Partners, AXA Venture Partners, Entrepreneur Venture Gestion and Orange Ventures’ $27.1m venture financing of InsideBoard

2) The $16.5m acquisition of Lixoft by Simulations Plus
