India’s technology industry saw a rise of 16.1% in overall deal activity during August 2020, when compared with the last 12-month average, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

A total of 65 deals worth $596.28m were announced in August 2020, compared to the 12-month average of 56 deals.
Venture financing was the leading category in the month in terms of volume with 47 deals which accounted for 72.3% of all deals.
In second place was M&A with 17 deals, followed by private equity with one transactions, respectively accounting for 26.2% and 1.5% of overall deal activity in the country’s technology industry during the month.

The top five technology industry deals accounted for 86.8% of the overall value during August 2020.
The combined value of the top five technology deals stood at $517.4m, against the overall value of $596.28m recorded for the month.
The top five technology industry deals of August 2020 tracked by GlobalData were:
1) Think and Learn’s $300m acquisition of WhiteHat Education Technology
2) The $161m acquisition of GPX India by Equinix
3) AIA Group, G Capital Limited (formerly knownInjazat Capital Limited), Matrix Partners, RTP Global, Sequoia Capital Operations, Sofina and Tencent Holdings’ $32m venture financing of Practo Technologies
4) The $13m venture financing of RoboticWares by Fundamentum and KB Global Platform Fund
5) KTB Network’s venture financing of Trell Experiences for $11.4m.
