The UK government is launching a major investigation into the social and economic contributions European Union (EU) citizens make to the UK, over a year after the UK voted to leave the EU.
A new UK immigration system will “not be ready” by April 2019, the scheduled date for the country’s formal departure from the EU, according to the Institute for Government (IfG), a British think tank.
Freedom of movement was one of the key aspects of the Brexit campaign and will make up one of the main negotiation points now that Article 50 has been triggered.
