Becoming the first sitting US president to visit the Western Wall, Trump’s visit to Jerusalem was fairly similar to his stop in Saudi Arabia, emphasising unity both between the US and its Middle Eastern allies and within the broader region itself.

Trump has previously assigned son-in-law Jared Kushner to deal with peace in the Middle East and seems to believe that he believes a new sense of partnership can be achieved with the Middle East nations, his hope appearing to be that he can leave his mark on the region by helping to forge peace that has escaped the various countries for decades.

This includes a renewed effort at peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. … I’ve heard it’s one of the toughest deals of all, but I have a feeling that we’re going to get there eventually. I hope.

The only true oddity? The president’s strangely simple and upbeat message left at Yad Vashem, the Israeli Holocaust memorial museum on the edge of Jerusalem.
