The value marked a decrease of 90.9% over the previous month and a drop of 95.1% when compared with the last 12-month average of $12.49bn.
The US held a 5.5% share of the global technology industry M&A deal value that totalled $11.14bn in April 2020.
In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 116 deals during April 2020, marking a decrease of 24.2% over the previous month and a drop of 35.9% over the 12-month average.

The top five technology industry M&A deals accounted for 90.1% of the overall value during April 2020.
The combined value of the top five technology M&A deals stood at $548.4m, against the overall value of $608.37m recorded for the month.
The top five technology industry deals of April 2020 tracked by GlobalData were:
1) MaxLinear’s $150m asset transaction with Intel
2) The $145m acquisition of DivvyCloud by Rapid7
3) SS&C Technologies Holdings’ $120m acquisition of Innovest Systems
4) The $74.4m acquisition of Candywriter by Stillfront Group
5) Medallia’s acquisition of Voci Technologies for $59m.
