A recently granted patent (Publication Number: US11967397B2) discloses a novel communications circuit designed to efficiently manage data flow. The circuit includes an input port, a switching circuit, two memories, and controlling circuitry. The controlling circuitry receives a control signal from the first memory and directs the switching circuit to route data from the input port to either the first or second memory based on the amount of valid data stored in the first memory.

The first memory operates at a lower frequency compared to the second memory, with the second memory having a higher leakage current when powered. Additionally, a power switching circuit is included to manage power supply to the second memory based on the data storage levels in the first memory. The method of operating the communications device involves selectively routing data between the two memories based on the control signal's state, effectively creating a First In First Out (FIFO) memory system. This innovative approach aims to optimize data storage and retrieval processes in communication devices, enhancing overall efficiency and performance.
