As the PGA European Tour heads to Spain for the Andalucia Valderrama Masters, a host of star names, yacht owners and business professionals will be flying out to Mallorca to take part in their own golf tournament.

The Pinmar Golf tournament is organised annually by superyacht specialists Pinmar. The company invites those involved in the superyacht industry to tee off against each other.

While serving as a huge networking event, the tournament is held to raise money for worthy causes.  In total, over €850,000 has been given to charity over the years. The receiver of money raised is largely selected by the tournaments victor. In total, the winner is allocated 50 percent of the prize pot, which can be given to a charity of their choice.

€81,000 of the €850,000 total was raised last year. This year, the 29th year of Pinmar Golf, is expected to be biggest and best event yet.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Remy Millott, CEO of Pinmar’s parent company GYG plc., said:

“I am particularly excited about this year’s plans for The Pinmar Golf 2017. Whilst preserving the values of friendship, charity and enjoyment that serve the event so well each year, this time we have introduced several carefully-considered venue changes, an all-new theatrical performance from international show director Martyn Smith, and the presence of fresh high-profile celebrity ambassadors. The Pinmar Golf 2017 is sure to be the best yet.”

When is The Pinmar Golf 2017 being held?

This year’s tournament will get underway on Thursday, 19 October.

The players will meet for breakfast at 6am London time, before taking to the course at 7am.

The tournament will be played over the next two days. With play finished, the tournament will come to an end with a prize-giving ceremony and after-party on Saturday, 21 October.

Where is the tournament held?

The tournament will take place in Mallorca at the Son Gual golf course. Designed to look and play like a links course, Son Gual offers one of the best golfing experiences on the Spanish island.

The 18 hole course is open and spacious, which should provide good play and a good view of the action.

Celebrities at The Pinmar Golf

This charity tournament won’t feature celebrities, but the organisers have promised 1,000 VIP guests.

This year will see two celebrity ambassadors join the line-up. Pinmar has confirmed that former Open champion Paul Lawrie and Sky Sports News presenter Kirsty Gallacher will be bringing some entertainment and glamour to the event.
